How to cancel Audible

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Audible — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Audible bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Get notified at launch

Cancel Audible in 6 steps

  1. Sign in to your account at audible.com and select your username in the top navigation.
  2. Choose Account Details from the menu.
  3. Scroll down and click the Cancel membership link.
  4. Select a reason if prompted, then click Continue through each confirmation screen.
  5. Confirm your cancellation on the final prompt to fully stop the membership.
  6. Keep the confirmation email Audible sends you as proof that your membership was cancelled.

What happens after you cancel

Your membership benefits end when you cancel, and any unused credits are forfeited unless you cancel before your next billing date. Audible is a credit-based membership, so audiobooks you already bought with credits or a card stay in your library permanently, but titles included only through Plus Catalog access become locked. You can still buy individual audiobooks without a membership. If you cancel mid-cycle you generally keep access until the paid period ends.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

These steps only work if you subscribed directly through Audible. If you signed up through Amazon (Prime bundle), the Apple App Store, or Google Play, the cancel link will not appear on Audible's site. Apple subscribers must cancel in iPhone/iPad Settings > your name > Subscriptions, and Google Play subscribers must cancel in the Play Store > Subscriptions. Note that credits from App Store or Google Play memberships do not expire and remain after cancelling.

Charged after cancelling Audible?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Audible — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Audible charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Audible keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Audible.
Does cancelling Audible delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Audible's settings.
How do I know my Audible cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Audible and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
