How to cancel Avast

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Avast — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Avast bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Avast in 6 steps

  1. Sign in to your Avast Account at id.avast.com from a browser.
  2. Open 'Subscriptions' and select your paid plan.
  3. Turn OFF auto-renewal (this stops future charges).
  4. To fully cancel and request a refund, use Avast's support form / order lookup and cite the 30-day money-back window.
  5. Confirm auto-renewal now shows as off.
  6. Save the confirmation email.

What happens after you cancel

Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges; your protection runs until the current term ends. Avast offers a 30-day money-back guarantee — request a refund through support if you're within the window.

Charged after cancelling Avast?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Avast — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Avast charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Avast keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Avast.
Does cancelling Avast delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Avast's settings.
How do I know my Avast cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Avast and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
