How to cancel Basecamp
A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Basecamp — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.
Cancel Basecamp in 5 steps
- Sign in at basecamp.com (the account owner cancels).
- Open 'Adminland' → 'Account / Billing'.
- Select 'Cancel account' and follow the prompts.
- Export any project data you want to keep first.
- Get written confirmation and keep it.
What happens after you cancel
You keep your Basecamp plan until the end of the current billing period, then it stops (or reverts to any free tier). Annual plans are prepaid, so cancelling turns off the next renewal — cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge.
Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?
Basecamp is billed on its website. If you subscribed through an app store, cancel in that store's Subscriptions section instead.
Charged after cancelling Basecamp?
It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Basecamp — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.
