Cancel Book of the Month in 5 steps

  1. Sign in at bookofthemonth.com from a web browser.
  2. Open 'My Account' → 'Manage Membership' / 'Account'.
  3. Select 'Skip' if you just want to skip a month, or 'Cancel Membership' to end it.
  4. Cancel before the monthly deadline (usually around the 6th) to avoid the next credit charge.
  5. Confirm you receive a cancellation email and keep it.

What happens after you cancel

Book of the Month bills a monthly credit; skip before the monthly deadline if you don't want that month, or cancel to end billing. Unused credits stay in your account for a while. Cancel before the deadline to avoid the next charge. No refund for a credit already billed.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Charged after cancelling Book of the Month?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Book of the Month — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Book of the Month charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Book of the Month keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Book of the Month.
Does cancelling Book of the Month delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Book of the Month's settings.
How do I know my Book of the Month cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Book of the Month and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
