How to cancel Fitness First

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Fitness First — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Fitness First bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Fitness First in 6 steps

  1. Check your membership agreement for your minimum term and required notice period.
  2. Sign in to your Fitness First member account online or in the app, or visit your home club.
  3. Submit a cancellation request in writing (member portal or email) so you have a record, or complete a cancellation form at the club.
  4. Give the required notice — Fitness First typically requires around 30 days' notice before your next direct debit.
  5. If you're still within a minimum term, ask what's needed to end it (or whether an early-exit applies).
  6. Get written confirmation of the cancellation and keep it.

What happens after you cancel

Fitness First memberships have a minimum term and a notice period (commonly ~30 days), so you're usually billed for at least one more direct debit after you give notice. Cancel in writing and keep the confirmation. No refund for a payment already taken.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Fitness First bills you directly by direct debit. Cancellation is handled with the club or member services — there's no app-store subscription.

Charged after cancelling Fitness First?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Fitness First — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Fitness First charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Fitness First keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Fitness First.
Does cancelling Fitness First delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Fitness First's settings.
How do I know my Fitness First cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Fitness First and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
