How to cancel Google Workspace

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Google Workspace — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Google Workspace bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Google Workspace in 5 steps

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console at admin.google.com (you must be an administrator).
  2. Go to 'Billing' → 'Subscriptions'.
  3. Select your Workspace subscription → 'Cancel subscription'.
  4. Follow the prompts and confirm — export any data you need first.
  5. Keep the cancellation confirmation.

What happens after you cancel

Cancelling ends the subscription at the end of the current term (or immediately for Flexible plans). After cancellation you lose access to paid Workspace services and data may be deleted after a grace period — export first. Annual/fixed-term plans may bill the remaining commitment.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Google Workspace is billed through the Admin console. If you bought it via a reseller, cancel through that reseller instead.

Charged after cancelling Google Workspace?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Google Workspace — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Google Workspace charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Google Workspace keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Google Workspace.
Does cancelling Google Workspace delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Google Workspace's settings.
How do I know my Google Workspace cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Google Workspace and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
