How to cancel IDShield

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling IDShield — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if IDShield bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel IDShield in 5 steps

  1. Sign in to your IDShield / LegalShield account online, or call member services.
  2. Open 'Membership' / 'Billing'.
  3. Request cancellation of your IDShield membership; if it's bundled with LegalShield, note that.
  4. Give any required notice before your next monthly draft.
  5. Get a cancellation confirmation and keep it.

What happens after you cancel

IDShield memberships bill monthly. Cancelling stops future drafts; protection runs to the end of the current period. If bundled with LegalShield, confirm which parts you're cancelling. Keep the confirmation.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

IDShield bills you directly (or through your employer's benefits). Cancellation goes through member services — not an app store.

Charged after cancelling IDShield?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from IDShield — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will IDShield charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, IDShield keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling IDShield.
Does cancelling IDShield delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in IDShield's settings.
How do I know my IDShield cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from IDShield and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.

Cancelling something? Keep the proof.
