How to cancel McAfee

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling McAfee — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if McAfee bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel McAfee in 6 steps

  1. Sign in at home.mcafee.com (My Account) from a browser.
  2. Open 'My Account' → 'Auto-Renewal Settings' (or 'Subscriptions').
  3. Turn OFF auto-renewal for your subscription.
  4. To fully cancel and request a refund, check McAfee's money-back window (typically 30 days monthly / 60 days annual) and contact support if eligible.
  5. Confirm auto-renewal now shows as 'Off'.
  6. Save the confirmation email.

What happens after you cancel

Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges; your protection runs until the current term ends. McAfee's money-back guarantee (about 30 days monthly, 60 days annual) lets you request a refund through support if you're within the window.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

If McAfee came bundled with a new PC or through the Apple App Store / Google Play, manage it there. Auto-renewals set up directly with McAfee are managed at home.mcafee.com.

Charged after cancelling McAfee?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from McAfee — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will McAfee charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, McAfee keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling McAfee.
Does cancelling McAfee delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in McAfee's settings.
How do I know my McAfee cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from McAfee and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
