How to cancel Medium
A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Medium — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.
Cancel Medium in 5 steps
- Sign in at medium.com from a web browser (cancel where you subscribed).
- Click your profile → 'Settings' → 'Membership' / 'Manage subscription'.
- Select 'Cancel membership' and follow the prompts.
- Cancel before your renewal date — monthly and annual memberships auto-renew.
- Confirm you receive a cancellation email.
What happens after you cancel
You keep Medium member access until the end of the current billing period, then revert to the free tier. Annual plans are prepaid; cancelling turns off the next renewal. No refund for the current period is typical.
Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?
If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions instead of on medium.com.
Charged after cancelling Medium?
