How to cancel MEGA

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling MEGA — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if MEGA bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel MEGA in 5 steps

  1. Sign in at mega.io / mega.nz from a web browser.
  2. Open 'Settings' → 'Plan' / 'Account'.
  3. Turn off auto-renewal or select 'Cancel subscription'.
  4. Reduce your stored files below the free limit before downgrading, so nothing is locked.
  5. Cancel before your renewal date and keep the confirmation.

What happens after you cancel

You keep your paid MEGA plan until the end of the current billing period, then revert to the free tier's storage limit. Files above the free limit stay but may become read-only until you free up space. Cancel before your renewal date. No refund for the current period is typical.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the MEGA app, cancel in that store's Subscriptions section instead.

Charged after cancelling MEGA?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from MEGA — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will MEGA charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, MEGA keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling MEGA.
Does cancelling MEGA delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in MEGA's settings.
How do I know my MEGA cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from MEGA and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.

Cancelling something? Keep the proof.

CancelProof records your cancellation automatically — so if you're charged anyway, you're covered.
