How to cancel Movistar

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Movistar — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Movistar bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Movistar in 5 steps

  1. Sign in to Mi Movistar at movistar.es, or prepare to call Movistar on 1004.
  2. Request cancellation (baja) by phone or the online flow.
  3. Give the required notice — Spanish operators typically require up to 2 weeks' notice.
  4. If you're within a permanencia (commitment) period, ask about penalties.
  5. Request number portability if keeping your number. Keep the cancellation reference (número de baja).

What happens after you cancel

Movistar (Telefónica) may have a permanencia commitment with penalties if you leave early; otherwise standard notice applies (up to ~2 weeks). Cancel by phone or online, port your number if keeping it, and return any leased router. Keep your cancellation reference.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Movistar bills you directly. Cancellation goes through Movistar by phone or online — not an app store.

Charged after cancelling Movistar?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Movistar — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Movistar charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Movistar keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Movistar.
Does cancelling Movistar delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Movistar's settings.
How do I know my Movistar cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Movistar and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
