How to cancel Sky

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Sky — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Sky bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Sky in 6 steps

  1. Sign in to My Sky at sky.com or the My Sky app.
  2. Go to 'My Account' → the product you want to cancel (TV, Broadband, etc.).
  3. A few Sky products can be cancelled online; for most you'll be directed to call Sky on 0333 7591 018 to finish.
  4. Give the required 31 days' notice — your service and billing continue through that period.
  5. Ask about any minimum-term or early-exit charges if you're still in contract.
  6. Get a cancellation reference number and note the date.

What happens after you cancel

Sky requires 31 days' notice, so you're billed through the notice period, and early-exit fees may apply within a minimum term. Return any Sky equipment (e.g. a Sky Q box) if asked, to avoid non-return charges. Keep your cancellation reference.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Sky bills you directly. Sky streaming add-ons bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play are cancelled in that store instead.

Charged after cancelling Sky?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Sky — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Sky charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Sky keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Sky.
Does cancelling Sky delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Sky's settings.
How do I know my Sky cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Sky and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
