How to cancel Squarespace

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Squarespace — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Squarespace bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Add to Chrome — Free

Cancel Squarespace in 6 steps

  1. Sign in at squarespace.com and open the site you want to cancel.
  2. Go to 'Settings' → 'Billing' → 'Subscriptions'.
  3. Select the website subscription → 'Cancel Subscription'.
  4. Follow the prompts and confirm.
  5. Turn off auto-renew for any domain registered with Squarespace (managed separately).
  6. Keep the confirmation email.

What happens after you cancel

Your site stays live until the end of the current billing period, then it's unpublished. Squarespace refunds within 14 days of an annual purchase (monthly plans aren't refundable). A domain registered with Squarespace renews separately — cancel its auto-renew too if you don't want it.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

Squarespace is billed on its website. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, cancel there instead.

Charged after cancelling Squarespace?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Squarespace — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Squarespace charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Squarespace keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Squarespace.
Does cancelling Squarespace delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Squarespace's settings.
How do I know my Squarespace cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Squarespace and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.
