How to cancel Xero
A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Xero — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.
Cancel Xero in 5 steps
- Sign in at xero.com (the subscriber cancels).
- Open 'Settings' → 'Subscriptions' / 'Billing'.
- Select 'Cancel subscription' and follow the prompts.
- Export your accounting data first.
- Cancel before your renewal date and keep the confirmation.
What happens after you cancel
You keep your Xero plan until the end of the current billing period, then it stops (or reverts to any free tier). Annual plans are prepaid, so cancelling turns off the next renewal — cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge.
Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?
Xero is billed on its website. If you subscribed through an app store, cancel in that store's Subscriptions section instead.
Charged after cancelling Xero?
It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Xero — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.
