How to cancel Netflix

A quick, up-to-date guide to cancelling Netflix — and keeping proof that you did, in case you're charged anyway.

Before you click cancel: the moment you cancel is exactly when proof matters. CancelProof records your cancellation — the pages, the clicks, the confirmation — so if Netflix bills you after you cancel, you have a refund pack ready. Get notified at launch

Cancel Netflix in 5 steps

  1. Open netflix.com in a browser and sign in.
  2. Go to Manage your membership on your Account page.
  3. Click Cancel (Cancel Membership).
  4. Click Finish Cancellation to confirm.
  5. Watch for the confirmation email — save it as proof of your cancellation.

What happens after you cancel

You can keep watching Netflix until the end of your current billing period. Your exact cancellation date is shown in your Payment History.

Subscribed through Apple, Google, or another provider?

If you signed up through Apple, Google, or a cable/mobile provider, the Cancel button may not appear. Look under the Membership section of your Account page for a link or instructions to cancel through that partner instead.

Charged after cancelling Netflix?

It happens more than it should. If a charge lands after you cancelled, here's how to get your money back from Netflix — and why documented proof is what makes the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will Netflix charge me after I cancel?
It shouldn't. After you cancel, Netflix keeps your access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. If a charge still appears, see our guide on being charged after cancelling Netflix.
Does cancelling Netflix delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but usually keeps your account so you can return later. Deleting your account is a separate action in Netflix's settings.
How do I know my Netflix cancellation worked?
Look for a cancellation confirmation email from Netflix and check that your account shows the plan ending. Keeping that confirmation — an email or a screenshot — is your proof if there's ever a dispute.

Cancelling something? Keep the proof.

CancelProof records your cancellation automatically — so if you're charged anyway, you're covered.
